The Diar Foundation works on the definition of food security based on the 1996 World Food Summit. It is defined as when all people, at all times have physical and economic to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.

Through established and pioneered programs like the Seeds of the Gold project in Uganda and South Sudan Will Never Starve Again campaign and the Yirol school farms by the Diar Foundation we implement activities including
• Train communities on proper farming methods to improve farm productivity.
• Research innovative and sustainable methods to support agriculture.
• Educate inspire and mobilize communities and stakeholders to take action for increased food security and sustainable agriculture.
• Distribute seeds and other farming kits to communities to promote farming on small and large scale
• Market linkage to farmers
